Position Overview:
The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up and running precision parts with minimal supervision. This role requires a strong ability to work with complex designs, maintain extremely tight tolerances, and avoid scrap on high-value materials. Ideal candidates will possess tool-and-die experience and familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machines to produce precision parts.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints and work with GD&T principles (training available).
- Work with various materials, including plastics, aluminum, and hardened steels.
- Ensure tight tolerances on all parts produced, avoiding scrap on materials valued up to $10,000.
- Perform tool-and-die work, including disassembly, reverse engineering, and building or repairing dies from scratch.
- Independently manage workload and prioritize tasks to meet lead times (5–6 weeks on average).
- Maintain quality and precision through self-checks and inspections.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in CNC machining, including setup and operation.
- Experience with tool-and-die work preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of GD&T or a willingness to learn through company-provided training.
- Ability to work independently in a job shop environment.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to meet extremely tight tolerances.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to unique projects.
